An Introduction to the Cambridge Action Network

Formed in May 2004 the Cambridge Action Network is a local resistance to corporate capitalism, globalisation, the destruction of our environment. We are a group of people who help and support each other with various projects, ideas and actions in and around Cambridge, UK.

CAN has signed up to the Hallmarks of Peoples' Global Action and joined the Dissent network of resistance.

Currently, our main objectives are;

  • To support and aid individuals and groups in taking direct action in line with the PGA Hallmarks.
  • To organise regular forums on the various issues concerning CAN; Capitalism, imperialism, wars, big missiles, wage-slavery, loss of human rights, GM crops, the "terrorist threat"... We could go on...
  • To think and act local as well as global.
  • To run as a non-hierarchal organisation, by volunteers, with consensus decision making, a rejection of power structures.

If you are interested in getting involved, you can contact the Cambridge Action Network or come along to one of our planning meetings, or join our events announcement list to get e-mails about our forthcoming actions.
